LESS THAN 25 MILES AWAY:
- Saint Chef: medieval town with traditional streets, whose ancient Benedictine abbey has one of the most important collections of Roman frescoes from the 12th century.
- Hières-sur-Amby: towering on high cliffs above the Rhone, this is the site of the ruins of a vast country estate.

- Pérouges, in the direction of Meximieux: medieval city.
- La Balme-les-Grottes: one of the seven wonders of Le Dauphiné. The cave, whose massive porch houses two medieval chapels, contains some geological gems.

- Parc des Gorilles in St Martin la Plaine.
- Morestel: visit this town for its original architecture, the winding streets that ascend towards the 12th century tower, the feudal chateau dungeons, the Murine Gate, Place Grenette and its old wells and the classic Dauphinois houses.

- Parc de Courzieu (birds of prey and wolves)
- Branques: a special literary village. Former home to the poet Paul Claudel who is buried there. Hundred-year-old trees, sprawling meadows, wild herbs, cool springs and small oases of greenery are a living testament to the late poet.
